Janeoo (also known as Yajnopavita or sacred thread) is a holy thread worn by Hindu males, especially from the Brahmin, Kshatriya, and Vaishya communities. It is given during the Upanayana Sanskar, a sacred rite of passage that marks the beginning of formal spiritual learning.
The Janeoo symbolizes purity, responsibility, and a commitment to living a disciplined, spiritual life. Traditionally made of cotton, it consists of three strands representing purity of thought, word, and deed, and is worn across the left shoulder and under the right arm.
